David Chan is an experienced designer and developer

I am currently a product designer at RBC for their commercial banking product (RBC Express).

My corporate experience includes lead designer at CIBC on the Digital Optimization and Mobile teams. Before that, I was one of two front-end designers who worked on Sony Canada's $25+ million eCommerce site.

Over the past 10 years, I have worked with companies including Ancestry.ca, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, LCBO, Microsoft, LG Electronics, The Royal Society of Canada and Square One Shopping Center.

  • Quarterly Individual Recipient, Quarterly Team Recipient, Runner-up in the 2016 CIBC Hackathon, Runner-up in the 2015 CIBC Hackathon, 3x eAchiever Recipient
  • Lead designer for the Digital Optimization Team
  • Prototyped and developed accessibility requirements for the bank's 2016 redesign
  • First designer to contribute production-level code to the Development Team
  • Worked on high-profile product launches including Apple Pay, Digital Account Open, Join CIBC, and CIBC Smart Accounts
  • At the end of 2016, I moved to the Mobile Team and worked on the framework for CIBC's mobile app redesign

  • Led the initiative to introduce lifestyle-oriented imagery
  • Designed and developed a responsive CSS and HTML framework that allowed the site to have a consistent visual style
  • Worked with Content Specialists and the Marketing Teams to reorganize product categories with the emphasis on making the decision-making process easier
  • Designed and implemented AB tests measuring the effectiveness of CTAs, promotions and page layouts
